What does The River believe?

You can read about our core values and our beliefs here.

Why are we called The River?

You can read all about that here.

What kind of church is The River?

We are an Anglican church. If you are not familiar with what Anglican is, we are part of a worldwide community of over 70 million Christians with churches on every continent (except Antarctica!). We trace our historical roots to England and the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century. You can read more about our affiliation here.

Do we use a lot of formalities, like readings and such?

We use some readings from the Book of Common Prayer (www.bcponline.com), a few common prayers like the Lord's Prayer, but those up front do not vest and we are not a very formal church in terms of liturgy or dress.

Are we 'charismatic'?

if you mean, are we 'scary, out of control or force things on people?' then absolutely not.  If you mean, 'do we believe that the Spirit is still healing, moving and working throughout the Body of Christ?', then yes.  We believe everything that the Holy Spirit does will be done in an orderly way (I Cor 14:40), will be done as Jesus wants it (John 14:12  I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father) and will be done in a way that is sensitive, permissive and brings a sense that God is working.

Opportunities to learn more and connect

Every month (3rd Sunday) we offer newcomers a free lunch at Bud Fosters after church (Prices Fork Road by Main Street) as an opportunity to get acquainted and be able to answer questions. We also host newcomer classes several times a year, an excellent way to learn about The River, meet staff and other newcomers. This information will be announced on Sunday mornings AND via the website events calendar.
